Airport is tops for time on Amsterdam service
When it comes to time Durham Tees Valley Airport is proving tops with its KLM service to Amsterdam.
Figures for March showed that Durham Tees Valley achieved the highest punctuality of all the 14 UK airports from which KLM operate its Cityhopper services. In total 96 per cent of its three-times-a-day seven-days-a-week flights met the industry standard punctuality yardstick of being within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure or arrival time.
Latest figures for April show an even more impressive performance—with 99 per cent of all KLM flights to and from the airport meeting the punctuality standards.
Says Nick Smillie, Aviation Sales Director for Peel Airports Group “KLM’s service from Durham Tees Valley to Amsterdam Schiphol, one of Europe’s most important hubs for worldwide routes, is greatly valued by local people, especially the business community—and for them, of course, being on time is especially important.
“Business travellers represent well over half of the passengers who use the KLM service, with many of them linking at Schiphol to flights taking them to destinations across the globe—the most popular including Bangkok, Houston, Johannesburg, Zurich and Oslo.
“We pride ourselves on working with our airlines to make sure that flights are on time wherever possible—as well as hitting the 96 per cent figure for March, we also delivered 93 per cent punctuality for the last 12 months.
“Of course, events arising from the airspace restrictions earlier this month caused huge problems for everyone—including customers, ourselves and our airlines—but things are now back on track and we aim to make sure that Durham Tees Valley stays tops for time.”
