It’s been announced that Durham Tees Valley Airport Director Kerry Quinn is to leave to take up a senior post at Cardiff Airport.
Kerry Quinn, who has worked at Durham Tees Valley since 1999 and has been Airport Director for the past two years, said today that, whilst she was sad to be leaving what she described as ‘a great team, a great area and a great airport’ she was looking forward to the challenge of becoming Operations Director at Wales’ major airport.
After a decade working in the health service in the North East, Kerry joined the then Teesside Airport as Head of Personnel and Administration, becoming landside operations manager and then director of airport operations before being appointed Airport Director in April 2008.
Said Kerry “As a born and bred North Easterner it will obviously be a bit of a wrench to move and I will certainly miss the tremendous support and friendship I have enjoyed with colleagues at Durham Tees Valley.
“I believe that together we have been able to guide the airport through probably the most challenging period in its history, but I firmly believe the tough decisions we have made have re-shaped the business in a way which has stabilised its immediate position and enabled it to take advantage of future growth opportunities.
“The fact that in recent months we have been able to attract new scheduled services and increase our holiday programme for the coming summer demonstrates both the confidence our partner airlines and operators…and the support for Durham Tees Valley from local people.”
Added Hugh Lang, Group Airports Director with Peel Airports “Throughout her time at Durham Tees Valley Kerry has shown outstanding commitment to the airport and a recognition of its importance to the local economy. Her time as Airport Director has coincided with a period of unprecedented upheaval for the entire air travel industry and it is very much to her credit that Durham Tees Valley has weathered the storm and is now moving forward again. We wish her well in her new post."
