It was Balkan bound for a party of travel agents who flew out of Durham Tees Valley Airport for a week-long visit to Bulgaria—a destination rapidly gaining in popularity with North East holidaymakers.

Organised by Bulgaria specialists Balkan holidays, who operate a weekly flight from Durham Tees Valley, the trip is designed to give the agents from across the North of England and Scotland the chance to see for themselves the rapidly-expanding range of hotels and resorts and visit some of the country’s historic attractions, such as the UNESCO-protected town of Nessebur which is situated on a peninsula and accessed from the mainland by a causeway.

Says Durham Tees Valley Airport Marketing and Communications Manager Emma Ormerod “There’s no doubt that Bulgaria is currently one of the most up-and-coming destinations because of its excellent choice of hotels and resorts, wonderful weather and scenery—and, of course, it’s great value for money.

“Balkan Holidays have been specialising in holidays to this part of the world for over 40 years and the real benefit of a trip of this kind is that, when customers go into their travel agent, they can get advice and help from someone who has seen for themselves what Bulgaria has to offer.”

The agents are being accompanied on their visit by staff from Balkan Holidays whose Sales and Marketing Manager Chris Rand commented “'We are delighted to be able to show the local travel agents of the Durham Tees Valley area what a perfect beach holiday destination Bulgaria is"

This summer’s Balkan Holidays flight to Bourgas Airport operates every Monday.
