Durham Tees Valley Airport has again provided the venue for the awards ceremony for local students aiming for careers in the aviation industry.

Over 60 students, family and friends gathered at the airport for the annual Aviation Awards event marking the success of students from Stockton Riverside College which offers a range of courses designed to provide the skills needed for a wide variety of jobs.

Also at the awards were several former college students now enjoying careers in aviation.

Says Airport Manager Shaun Woods “We have a good relationship with the College and are delighted to play our part in encouraging their students to pursue their ambitions to work in aviation.

“The event does give them a taste of the industry, the wide range of opportunities in what is a worldwide industry…and the chance to meet some of those for whom the college has opened up great opportunities.”

Adds Catherine Carney, course leader at the College ““It has been a fantastic year for student success, both past and present, within the Aviation department. To hold the ceremony at Durham Tees Valley Airport is particularly special, as it offers students the chance to share with family and friends the type of environment they could go on to work in.”
