Airport welcomes significant growth on Amsterdam Route

Durham Tees Valley Airport chiefs have welcomed buoyant passenger numbers on the flagship KLM service to Amsterdam Schiphol.

Civil Aviation Authority figures show that in September 9,321 passengers used the service, an increase of seven per cent on the same month last year.

Said Chris Harcombe, Head of Aviation Development with Peel Airports “Growing the KLM operation at Durham Tees Valley is a key priority within the plans for the airport’s development and obviously the significant growth in passenger numbers shown in the latest figures is very encouraging.

“The statistics from the CAA show a seven per cent growth in September compared to the same month last year and we expect that trend will be maintained when the figures for October become available.

“The numbers of customers using the three times a day link from Durham Tees Valley to Amsterdam for access to long-haul connections is very positive and demonstrates how important it is seen by the area’s business community as they compete in an increasingly global marketplace.”

The KLM service provides access to the global network in less than 80 minutes with over 200 destinations available worldwide. Further information is available via .and the KLM website
